About Navratri
Sharad Navratri is the nine-night autumn festival of the goddess Durga, running from the first day of the bright fortnight of Ashwin. It is the most widely celebrated of the two Navratris, culminating in Durga Puja in the east and Dussehra in the north.
Each night is dedicated to one of the nine forms of the goddess. Gujarat holds its famous garba and dandiya raas dances, Bengal stages elaborate pandals for the last four days, and many devotees observe a full nine-day fast, breaking it on the final day.
