About Panchangly
Panchangly is a daily Hindu calendar (Panchang) reference for anyone who plans the day by it — families in India and the diaspora alike. Every value on this site — tithi, nakshatra, yoga, karana, sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, Choghadiya, Rahu Kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika Kaal, Abhijit Muhurat and Brahma Muhurat — is computed from published astronomical algorithms: the ELP-2000/82B lunar series (BSD-licensed IAU/SOFA derivation) and Meeus solar position, with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa fitted to official values.
Why locality matters
Panchang values are anchored to sunrise, and sunrise changes with longitude. The tithi current at sunrise in New York can differ from the one in Delhi, so a festival observed on one date in India can fall on the neighbouring date in the United States. That is why this site computes each city page independently for its own coordinates and time zone instead of re-using Delhi numbers — including fourteen overseas cities across the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Singapore and the UAE.
How the values are verified
Timings are regression-checked against the Government of India publication Rashtriya Panchang (Positional Astronomy Centre, India Meteorological Department, Kolkata), Saka Era 1944–1948, covering more than 34,000 automated checks that run on every site update. Festival and observance dating rules are additionally checked against the Government of India gazetted holiday lists. Where reputable sources disagree with each other — for example, dating conventions that differ between the Udaya Tithi and Pradosh or Aparahna readings — the disagreement is registered and the affected pages present both readings transparently instead of silently picking one.
How we decide observance dates
The tithi shown for a day is the one current at local sunrise (Udaya Tithi). Where a tithi never touches a sunrise (kshaya), this site follows the Smarta convention and uses the day on which the tithi begins; Vaishnava tradition shifts such dates to the following day, and each page states which convention applies.

- Every timing on every page comes from the same published astronomical engine — no hand-copied numbers from other websites.
- Pages are checked by an automated audit (language integrity, structured data, link validity, template rules) before each update.
- We do not publish unverifiable claims: where a classical rule cannot be established from sources with agreement, the feature is left out rather than invented.
- Corrections are welcome and credited — email us with the page, the value shown and your source.
What this site is not
Panchangly is a calendar and timing reference, not an astrological service. We do not offer personal horoscopes, paid consultations or gemstone remedies, and the timings here do not replace your family priest or tradition — regional and sampradaya practices genuinely differ, and for vows and ceremonies where the exact minute matters you should confirm locally.

The site is free to use and supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertising is clearly separated from content: no page or timing is ever published in exchange for payment, and we do not write sponsored editorial.
